'Try to Remember' NAU opera

Don't forget to attend NAU Opera's free performance of musical theater hits, "Try to Remember," at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in Ashurst Auditorium.

"Musical theater is a very popular theatric art form in the United States," said Nando Schellen, NAU Opera director. "It has had its influence on the art life in this country."

Schellen said the two-hour performance features excerpts from popular musicals chosen by students. Selections include songs from Candide, Chicago, Woman of the Year, Oklahoma! and A Little Night Music. The theme of the evening, "Try to Remember," is from a song featured in The Fantasticks.

Pianist and music director Charles Spining will accompany the student performers.

An additional performance will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at the Church of the Red Rocks at 54 Bowstring Drive in Sedona. Tickets for the Sedona performance are $10 for adults, $5 for college students and ages 5-18 are free with a paid adult admission.

For information, call Schellen at (928) 523-6749.
