'Inside NAU' reflects on the Riordan family legacy

Watch the episode now.

Northern Arizona University has been influenced by many people throughout the institution's history. One family made significant contributions by donating land to the university and working to establish services for the citizens of Flagstaff. The Riordan family is featured in this special edition of the Inside NAU television show, along with a look back at some of the campus stories whose origins are rooted in the early days of this historic Flagstaff family.

Join host Theresa Bierer in NAU's Centennial Forest, where young people take on the task of connecting with the forest's past to learn to become stewards of nature today. Also, a forestry graduate student helps the university, forest officials and the city of Flagstaff take an updated look at Lake Mary and its surrounding forest.

Watch as local elementary school students team with NASA and NAU to reach new heights through "Change of Altitudes," an innovative program that encourages them to get excited about science and gain confidence in their scientific abilities as well.

Lastly, Bierer is back in the forest as she talks with local firefighters, forest officials and NAU's Ecological Restoration Institute about the benefit of forest fires and thinning in the pursuit of returning the forest back to its natural state.
