Gary Bowman, associate professor of physics, had his book, Essential Quantum Mechanics, published by Oxford University Press. The book emphasizes both physical and mathematical understanding by focusing on the fundamental structure, concepts and methods of quantum mechanics.
- Matt A. Casado, professor in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, had the refereed article, "Location of the Ancient City of Urci and Delimitation of the Frontier between the Baetica and Tarraconensis Provinces in Ptolemy's Time," published in the ancient history journal Gerion, Complutense University, Madrid, Spain. This study determines the location of the lost city of Urci from written documents by Pomponious Mela, Gaius Plinius Secundus and Claudius Ptolemaeus. The research, based on these sources, indicates that this settlement could not have been on or around the modern city of Almeria, as proposed by encyclopedias and several historians, but to the east, on the lower basin of the Almanzora River.
