Internal search to be conducted for Advancement VP

President John Haeger announced the university will forgo a national search for a vice president for University Advancement and instead look to campus candidates to fill the position.

"In light of the pressures on all state agencies because of the budget shortfall in Arizona, I decided we should cancel the more costly national search and select a candidate from the extraordinary talent we have on campus," Haeger said.

Internal candidates already have been eligible to apply for the position but will now be the focus of the search.

The vice president for University Advancement position was subjected to the same review as other positions that are currently open on campus, as the university limits its hiring to only those positions that are critical to its mission.

"We must move forward with our efforts to increase gifts and contributions to the university from donors. This is especially critical during budget cycles in which fewer state dollars are available to the university," Haeger said.

Susan Schroeder will continue to serve as interim vice president for University Advancement until the position is filled.

The position is posted on the Human Resources web site.
