Videos highlight education issues

In advance of the president's university-wide forum March 27, the campus community is encouraged to watch two videos that provide visual impact to the issues of higher education in the United States and the challenges of rapidly changing technology.

The video, "We are Facing a Crisis in Education: Know the Facts" (2 minutes, 15 seconds), was produced for the Solutions Through Higher Education campaign, a statewide initiative to make residents aware of the critical role higher education plays in ensuring economic prosperity for the country and its citizens.

The second video from Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod, "Shift Happens" (8 minutes, 19 seconds), looks at how technology is changing the world and whether students are being prepared for the 21st century.

President schedules
university-wide forum

President John Haeger has scheduled a university-wide forum to discuss a variety of issues facing Northern Arizona University and higher education in general. He also will answer questions from participants.

The forum, titled "Higher Education, the Economy and University Priorities," is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in Ashurst Auditorium. Following the president's presentation, a reception is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. where guests can network with NAU administrators, colleagues and community members.

Haeger will discuss access and affordability to higher education, national competitiveness, and the national and state economies and their effect on higher education. A question-and-answer session will follow.

The forum will be webcast, and web participants may
