Employers, graduate schools Northern Arizona University students have an opportunity to jump start their futures by attending next week's Career and Graduate School Fair. Students are encouraged to make the most of this event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, in the University Union Fieldhouse. NAU career fairs often see more than 100 recruiters and as many as 2,000 students, said Sriyanthie McCabe, career and academic advisor for the Gateway Student Success Center, which is coordinating the fair. This semester, the biomedical professions fair takes place concurrently with the NAU Career and Graduate School Fair. Other on-campus employment-related events include the Education Interview Festival and the Ambassadors for the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences Fair, which also will be at the University Union Fieldhouse. The NAU Career and Graduate School Fair is free and students are encouraged to dress professionally and bring an updated résumé. To help students prepare for the fair and job searches in general, the Gateway Student Success Center offers a myriad of services. "The Gateway Student Success Center provides one-on-one appointments, presentations, workshops, mock interviews, mini-courses, and can schedule e-mail and phone appointments to meet student needs," McCabe said. In addition to the fair, there also is an online recruiting system, known as Gateway Connects, where students and alumni can browse a variety of jobs and internships and apply for them. Students can also request interviews with career fair employers via this system.
