Put pep in your True Blue NAU step Downtown Flagstaff will be booming with NAU spirit this Friday night. The university is celebrating its "One Community" relationship with the city of Flagstaff with a True Blue pep rally beginning at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 5 in Heritage Square. Complete with the NAU cheerleaders, dance squad and full marching band, the event will rally up excitement for the first home football game of the season. The Lumberjacks kick off against New Mexico Highlands at 3 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Skydome. Residents with an ID showing a northern Arizona zip code can purchase general admission tickets for $6, more than half off the regular price. The pep rally also is a signal for both campus and the community to begin donning NAU blue each Friday. NAU President John Haeger and football coach Jerome Souers will be on hand to encourage school spirit. Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler will read a proclamation urging city employees to wear NAU blue on Fridays before home football games. The university also is a sponsor of the First Friday Art Walk, so wear some comfortable shoes with that NAU True Blue. Downtown will be bustling Friday night. Besides a free movie, Lady and the Tramp, shown following the rally, it's also the start of Route 66 Days, featuring 366 cool cars on display.
