'Messiah' performance continues NAU tradition

Two performances of Handel's Messiah will be presented this weekend.

The Master Chorale of Flagstaff will collaborate with the Verde Valley Sinfonietta to present this popular Baroque masterpiece under the direction of David Cripps. A Messiah "sing-along" will be presented at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Mingus Union High School in Cottonwood. People in Sedona, Cottonwood and Verde Valley are encouraged to bring their Messiah scores and sing-along on all the choruses.

In Flagstaff, a concert version of Messiah will be performed at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov.  22, at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 3600 N. Fourth St. The featured solo quartet will be NAU vocal performance majors Noëlle Francis, soprano, from Flagstaff, Rachael Hirsch, alto, from Phoenix, Ben Perkins, tenor, from Atlanta, and David Bracamonte, bass, from Tucson.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children 18 and younger. Tickets for the Flagstaff performance may be purchased in advance from Just Sports in the Flagstaff Mall or Cedar Music next to Bookman's. Tickets also will be available at Trinity Heights Church the evening of the concert.
