ROTC graduates earn commissions;
3 to receive honors from Obama

Fifteen NAU and ROTC graduates became commissioned officers in the U.S. armed forces last week, and three of them will receive their commissions again tonight from President Obama.

The newly commissioned officers are Kelly Alford, Sterling Boom, Dylan Curtis, Louis Fay, Carlton Griffin, Dare O’Ravitz, Nina Proctor, Daniel Quinlan, Piper Reeve, Blake Roberts, Christopher Sproul, Jonathan Walker, Kayleigh Wallace, Aaron Dunn and Matthew Palandech.

They received their commission May 8 in ceremonies at Cline Library.

Alford, Griffin and Palandech will receive commissions again from Obama during commencement ceremonies tonight at Arizona State University.

All but Palandech are commissioned second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. Palandech is an officer in the Air Force.

Griffin and Alford graduated from the ROTC program with honors and were high on the national Order of Merit List. Griffin was 13th out of over 5,000 cadets nationwide and Alford was 406th.

Both were in the top 20th percentile of the list and are considered distinguished graduates.
