Most Arizona voters disapprove of dramatic cuts to higher education A new poll shows the majority of Arizona voters find the Legislature’s proposal to take $90 million from the state university system is an unacceptable solution for dealing with the Arizona budget deficit. The poll, conducted by Moore Information, Inc. and released yesterday, sheds light on the state budget fight, proposed solutions and public perceptions of key players. Results also show majority support among voters for Gov. Jan Brewer’s proposal for a temporary sales tax increase, with 62 percent favoring a solution to the budget deficit that contains both spending cuts in state government programs along with tax increases. |
