Ceramic exhibition at NAU Art Museum

The NAU Art Museum is throwing a Biennial Juried Ceramic Exhibition featuring work by 70 ceramic artists from artists across the nation, including NAU students and alumni.

The exhibit will open with a public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, and will be on display through Sept. 19.

“The exhibition is a tribute to the international standing of the university's ceramics program and our Tozan kilns, as well as an opportunity for the northern Arizona community to experience groundbreaking work,” said George Speer, director of the NAU Art Museum.

NAU ceramic majors in the show include Eugene Brosseau, Tristyn Bustamante and James Coquia. NAU ceramic alumni in the show include Dennise Gackstetter, Brian Harper, Heidi Kreitchet, Larry Meagher and Leslie Dawson Brier.

Renowned ceramist, Kurt Weiser, a Regents' Professor in the ASU Herberger College of the Arts, juried the exhibition.

The event is free and open to the public with a suggested $2 donation. The NAU Art Museum, located on the corner of Knoles Drive and McMullen Circle in the Old Main building, is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
