Goldwater scholars fight for vulnerable communities
Two NAU juniors, Amaya Pablo and James Davis, will receive educational support from the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, given to outstanding students who dream of careers in scientific research. Both students hope to advocate for vulnerable populations, just as they’re doing today in assistant professor Naomi Lee’s lab.

Interdisciplinary studies: A pathway for nontraditional students
Going back to school after “life happens” can be a challenge. The bachelor of interdisciplinary studies program offers nontraditional students a chance to finish their degree and advance their careers. It’s also a good alternative for students who are undecided about what they want to major in and want to explore multiple disciplines while in college.

So much to say, so little time: Graduate students shine at annual 3-Minute Research Presentation finals
Nine graduate students had three minutes to win it at the annual 3-Minute Research Presentation finals on April 17. The national contest offers students a chance to share their work with an audience of everyday people and flaunt their communication skills while facing the pressure of a ticking clock. From mechanical ankle braces and concussion testing to maternal healthcare and big cat bacteria, read about all this year's researchers had to offer, though it may take a smidge longer than three minutes.
