Grab free bus rides with ecoPASS, be part of a sustainable community

Pick up your free ecoPASS to save money and be part of Northern Arizona University’s commitment to sustainability.

The ecoPASS, an annual Mountain Line city bus pass provided to all NAU faculty and staff, is now available at Parking and Shuttle Services, Centennial Building #91, during university business hours Monday through Friday. An NAU ID is required.

The ecoPASS program supports the environmental commitment made by NAU President John Haeger to work toward a carbon-neutral campus by providing a more sustainable method of transportation for employees commuting to and from the NAU campus.

"The ecoPASS is an important part of NAU's commitment to carbon neutrality,” said Heather Farley, NAU sustainability coordinator. “Transportation accounts for the second largest proportion of the university's carbon footprint, so finding ways to reduce that piece of the puzzle are critical to our mission."

NAU employees are entitled to unlimited access on all Flagstaff Mountain Line Transit routes from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011. All buses are fitted with bike racks to accommodate cyclists.

NAU Mountain Campus Transit offers a shuttle service from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. between Mountain Line’s West Phoenix Avenue transfer center to the bus shelter behind the Physical Sciences building on the corner of Beaver Street and Franklin Avenue.

The program also sponsors a Guaranteed Ride Home system to provide additional security for commuting employees. A taxi ride home is available at no cost if an employee has an emergency.

For information contact Erin Stam, manager of Parking and Shuttle Services, at (928) 523-7609.
