Pima Community College and NAU
announce new joint admission program

Pima Community College and Northern Arizona University are partnering in a new initiative to increase the number of college students who obtain baccalaureate degrees.

NAU President John Haeger and PCC Chancellor Roy Flores will participate in a signing ceremony to establish Pima2NAU, a new joint admission program, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Pima Community College in Tucson.

Through Pima2NAU, students are admitted to Northern Arizona University while attending classes and receiving services at PCC. The joint admission program allows students to work toward a PCC associate’s degree, and assists them in making a seamless transition to NAU, where they can earn a bachelor’s degree at NAU in Tucson, NAU’s Flagstaff campus or online.

While Pima2NAU students are attending PCC, NAU will provide them with advising, library services, a student ID and e-mail, and information about financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

“We continue to strengthen our relationship with Northern Arizona University to ensure that residents of Pima County have streamlined paths to bachelor’s degrees,” Flores said.

PCC and NAU have a long history of collaborating to support student success. Their efforts are taking on increasing importance as the need for educated workers in the state increases.

“Northern Arizona University has been offering alternative methods of attaining baccalaureate degrees for 30 years,” Haeger said. “Working in concert with our partners at Pima Community College offers more options to Tucson-area residents who are seeking a path that is right for them.”
