Vacation accrual donations sought for compassionate transfer of leave pool
Human Resources is collecting vacation accrual donations to support the university’s recently revised Compassionate Transfer of Leave policy. This policy allows NAU benefit-eligible employees to transfer a portion of their accrued vacation hours to eligible employees who are unable to work due to catastrophic illness or injury.
Along with the changed policy, a new procedure will allow Human Resources to pool donations of vacation time for future use. Previous policy did not allow for donations to be collected until a recipient needed them, leaving very few donations currently available.
Employees who accrue vacation time may donate hours by submitting a completed donor form to HR. Donors are required to maintain a vacation accrual balance of 80 hours. Employees who are separating from employment, such as through retirement or resignation, may donate a portion or all of their vacation hours to the pool.
