  • Amy Hughes and Carissa Tsosie, academic programs librarians at Cline Library, presented “Connecting Culturally with Native American Students in the Library” at the Joint Conference of Librarians of Color in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 22. 

  • Kurt Lancaster, associate professor in the School of Communication, has released a new book, Video Journalism for the Web: A Practical Introduction to Documentary Storytelling. Read a description of the book here.

  • Luke Plonsky, assistant professor of applied linguistics, along with co-author Susan Gass, linguistics professor at Michigan State University, recently were awarded the ACTFL-MLJ Paul Pimsleur Award for Research in Foreign Language Education for their article "Quantitative Research Methods, Study Quality, and Outcomes: The Case of Interaction Research." The study, published last year in the journal Language Learning, employed research synthetic and meta-analytic techniques to assess and evaluate methodological features and outcomes in a prominent area of second language acquisition research.
