NAU researcher featured in 'The New Yorker'
magazine article
A comprehensive article, "Climbing the Redwoods," in the Feb. 14, 80th-annversary issue of The New Yorker magazine features the work of Humboldt State University's Steve Sillett and NAU's George Koch, a plant physiological ecologist who collaborated on a study of redwood tree growth. The article describes the researchers' work to understand how redwoods move water through their branches and how that affects how tall the trees grow.
The research is also featured in an article in the Jan. 24 issue of Scholastic Science World and is planned for next month's issue of the magazine Natural History. A German television production company also is preparing a piece on the work, Koch said.
