NAU-Yuma leader announces resignation

Krista Rodin, associate vice president and campus executive officer at NAU-Yuma, announced her resignation as of the end of the semester to pursue teaching and other administrative opportunities as a tenured professor at Northern Arizona University.

Rodin has been in her current position since January 2007. Prior to coming to NAU, Rodin served as vice provost for University Outreach at the University of Connecticut. In addition to her administrative and academic experience, Rodin also has a diverse background in teaching and in operatic direction and production.

"I look forward to getting back into the classroom to more directly engage NAU students in exploring ideas and in helping broaden their horizons through courses in the humanities and liberal arts." Rodin also indicated her desire to explore other intellectual interests, including writing.

"I want to thank Krista for guiding NAU-Yuma through the initial phases of its branch campus designation, its selection as a Hispanic Serving Institution and through its 20th anniversary celebration," said NAU President John Haeger.

"In a short period of time, Krista engaged the Yuma community in higher education in Yuma—and beyond." he said.

Rodin will remain in her position until May 18. Haeger said he will initiate a search immediately for her successor.

NAU-Yuma, with an enrollment of about 650 students, was established in 1988 on the campus of Arizona Western College. The NAU-Arizona Western affiliation has been cited among best practices for university and community college partnerships.

NAU-Yuma also has an academic partnership with Imperial Valley College in California.

The Arizona Board of Regents designated NAU-Yuma a branch campus in October 2006. The designation allows NAU to build programming and resources at its Arizona Western College site.
