Dear Colleagues:

I am writing to call your attention to two positions within the Northern Arizona University administration that offer the right candidate considerable opportunities as well as challenges.

As you know, the state's budget continues to worsen and it is unlikely that we will be able to search nationally for high profile administrative positions at a time when we will first need to hire faculty and staff to serve our increased student enrollment. Consequently, we must first reach inside our very large and diverse institution to ascertain whether we have a person or persons with the necessary administrative talent and expertise to fill these high profile positions. I ask you to consider applying yourself or to nominate individuals that you believe could fill these positions.

The first position is Vice President for University Advancement. This position has been posted for some time on the Human Resources website. David Bousquet is chairing the search committee and you should write directly to him.

The second opening is the result of the resignation of our Associate Vice President and Campus Executive Officer, Krista Rodin, at NAU-Yuma. Her resignation takes effect May 18. We must move quickly to have someone prepared to take over in late May. I have asked M.J. McMahon, Executive Vice President, to chair a small search committee to evaluate the candidates.

If you are interested in the Yuma position, please send us a letter of interest and vita no later than Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

The links above provide detailed descriptions for both positions.

Sincerely,

John D. Haeger
President
