AIAQTP Training - Management of Tribal Air Quality in Alaska (Level 2)

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of the administrative and management skills needed to operate an air quality program in an Alaska Native Village.

Topics include:

  • The Clean Air Act

  • Possible elements in an air quality program

  • Developing a grant work plan

  • Grant management & budgeting

  • Personnel management

  • Working with a contractor

  • Participation in the policy process

  • Funding sources for air quality projects

Who Should Attend:
This course is designed for environmental professionals who are responsible for managing air quality tasks and grants. Because this is a Level 2 course, applicants must have successfully completed ITEP’s Air Quality in Alaska Native Villages course or have equivalent background or experience.

Course Structure and Approach:
This course is designed as a highly interactive training. There are lectures and discussions with visual aids, but the emphasis is on small-group work. Groups develop a work plan, staffing strategy, and budget for a hypothetical air program in an Alaska Native Village.
