Course Introduction and Overview
This web course is designed to teach you how to use the Tribal Emission Inventory Software Solution (TEISS) to complete an emissions inventory (EI) for a Native American Reservation. TEISS is provided to all federally recognized U.S. Indian Tribes at no cost courtesy of the Western Regional Air Partnership's (WRAP) Tribal Data Development Working Group (TDDWG). To learn more about the TDDWG and what they do, visit their website at: www.wrapair.org/forums/tddwg/index.html
This section provides a brief overview on emission inventories (EIs). This web course is designed for people who have background training in emission inventories. If you are not clear about the information in this section or are not sure why it is important, we recommend that you take an
introductory EI course. The EPA's Air Pollution Training Institute (APTI) provides a free Introduction to EI web course that can be accessed at www.epa.gov/air/oaqps/eog/course_format.html.
The APTI web course can provide the foundation of knowledge required for the TEISS web course.
This web course consists of:
Online reading: Material to be read online. |
Turn In exercises: These are typically done outside of TEISS. You are asked to create a document and turn it in to the instructor. If you are just browsing this course, you may want to complete these exercises as a step toward starting your EI. |
User exercises: These are online exercises designed to help you apply the principles in the lesson |
TEISS exercises: These exercises are meant for you to complete yourself in TEISS. For TEISS Exercises, we recommend that you read through the exercise on-line first, then follow it through on your computer in TEISS. By reading the exercise first, you may avoid mis-steps and frustration when you complete the exercise on your own. |
Bulletin Board: Some exercises may instruct you to post answers or a reply to the Bulletin Board to facilitate discussion with others taking the webcourse. You can also post questions to the instructor on the bulletin board. |
