Lesson 11 - TEISS Tools and Administration

11.4 - Backing up Your TEISS Project

It is good practice to back-up your TEISS project every time you do work on it that you would not want to lose if your computer crashed. You just never know when your computer is going to crash, so back it up after each time you work on it! A back-up file can be used to restore your project in the event of your computer crashing and to send your project to other people for review or troubleshooting.

To back-up your project, select File: Backup: Save to ZIP from the menu bar. A window will open asking you to browse to the location you'd like to save your zipped backup file. We recommend saving it to a network drive if you have one available. If you do not have a network, save the back-up zip file to your project folder, then immediately make a copy of it on a disc or CD. We recommend adding the date in the following format to the end of the file name, so will you know when you did your last back-up.
December 10, 2005 = MyTEISS project_121005.zip

To restore the back-up, you must have closed out of TEISS and re-launched it. Instead of selecting the Open Project button like you would do to open the project, go to File: Backup: Extract from ZIP on the menu bar. TEISS will then open a window that will let you browse to your project's zipped back-up file and select it. You do not need to unzip the file, TEISS will unzip it.

If you are restoring from a disk copy of your TEISS project, you must copy the project on to your computer before restoring it. Be sure that the "Read only" permission is not checked in the properties of the zip file.

TEISS Exercise TEISS Exercise: You've done a lot of work on your project so far, back it up right now!
