Lesson 17 - TEISS License and EPA Model Installation Overview

17.1 TEISS License

As of December 2005, the Western Regional Air Partnership (WRAP)'s Tribal Data Development Working Group (TDDWG) has budgeted to pay for the TEISS license through April 2007. The TDDWG's license allows TEISS to be distributed at no charge to all federally recognized tribes in the U.S. When you get a copy of TEISS, your name, tribe and email address are forwarded to Lakes Environmental so they can keep you informed of updates to the software.

The TEISS license expires on January 1 of every year. Each year, Lakes Environmental sends out an email to all of the people who have gotten copies of TEISS to instruct them on how to renew their license for the new year.

TEISS was developed to encourage tribes and their employees to complete their own emission inventories. Part of the vision for the development of TEISS was that it would decrease tribe's dependence on contractors to conduct EIs for their reservations. Because the TEISS license is specifically for federally recognized tribes in the U.S., TEISS must be installed on a computer that is owned by the tribe holding the copy of TEISS.

If a tribe wishes to work with a contractor to do their EI, the contractor can contact Lakes about purchasing a copy of TEISS for their commercial use.
