Lesson 2 - Starting a Project and EI Codes Overview

2.1 - Installing TEISS

Put the TEISS CD into your computer's CD drive. It should automatically start a set-up wizard which will guide you through the installation. To run TEISS, your computer must meet the following requirements:

  1. YOU MUST HAVE ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS TO YOUR COMPUTER!

    1. If not, please talk to your IT folks to either install the software, or have them give you the administrative permissions so you can install it.


  2. Your machine is a PC and operates using Windows 2000 or XP Professional.

  3. Minimum system requirements: Pentium III processor, 128 Mb memory (RAM), and 100 Mb available hard disk space.

Click on the Install TEISS View button in the lower right hand side of the splash screen to start the program installation process. TEISS View will automatically install on your C:\ drive with the directory path of C:\TEISSVw, the program WILL NOT RUN off a network drive, it MUST be installed on the hard drive.

After the main program has installed, you should also click the "Copy Sample Maps" button so that you may work through the example projects included with the users guide manual.

Note that you can also install several other software packages such as MOBILE View, LandGEM, NONROAD, WATER9, and TANKS if you need them. These packages are for more advanced projects, and are not necessary for the initiation of your emissions inventory.

Restart your computer after you have installed the TEISS View program.

On January 1st, every year, the TEISS License will expire. You can get a new license file from Lakes Environmental at support@weblakes.com. They will e-mail you the new license. You will NOT lose any data! Lakes Environmental, as the owner of the software, just wants to ensure no unauthorized versions are running.
