ITS’s Academic Computing Help Desk has officially changed its name to the Student Technology Center. Our new name is more closely aligned with the growing number of services we have provided to the NAU community for over ten years.
The Student Technology Center is committed to assisting students achieve their academic goals by ensuring the necessary technologies are in place and in working order. Among the wide variety of applications and services for which we provide support are student email, PeopleSoft/LOUIE, Blackboard Vista, and the ResNet network.
We offer support through a variety of means, including: a 24-hours-per-day toll-free phone line where we take about 30,000 calls per year; e-mail; a web site with a searchable knowledge base; a walk-up service where students can bring their computers and have quick issues fixed on the spot; a drop-off service through which we serviced over 700 computers during the fall 2008 semester; and ResNet appointments, in which we make a visit to a student’s residence hall room. When working on students’ computers in our newly-expanded Walk-In Center or on ResNet appointments, we primarily help with network connectivity issues, virus and spyware removal, and Windows and Macintosh system maintenance.
With our name change, we ask you to please update any of your departments’ websites and publications to reflect our new name (Student Technology Center) and web site URL (nau.edu/stc/). We can still be reached at the same e-mail address, StudentComputing@nau.edu.
