If you haven’t already, now is the time to move on up to Microsoft Office 2007. You may have been resistant for reasons with which any cautious adopter would agree: questions of stability, change of interface, and the effect on your workflow which has developed out of, perhaps, many years using previous versions with the old interface paradigm. But the new Office 2007 suite is a huge improvement over Office 2003.
First of all, the functionality for Outlook is vastly improved. It becomes a fully integrated center for all your communications and scheduling, and equips you for exciting new capabilities that can only be used through Outlook 2007. With Office 2007, you will have the capability to use new products immediately as they are rolled out by Microsoft.
Yes, the interface has been redesigned, but experienced users will have little trouble skating quickly over the learning curve to embrace the more intuitive and comfortable model behind the new user interface, improving their personal workflow and speeding up productivity. And new adopters can visit the training site to view a video illustrating the differences between Office 2003 and Office 2007—just click the link to “What’s New in Office 2007?”
There are also tutorials available on this page for Outlook 2007.
Windows users can upgrade themselves from the ITS downloads page—Go to nau.edu/its/software, then click on the Windows selection in the drop-down box, and then click on the “Microsoft Windows Office 2007” link. Macintosh users can get Office 2008 for Mac at the same page by clicking the Macintosh selection in the dropdown and then the “Microsoft Office 2008” link.
