Reading and Study Skills Instruction

  Purpose:

The Reading and Study Skills Development component is designed to help NAU students improve their study and reading practices to maximize their comprehension and retention of college classroom material.

Available Services:

Our reading specialist and graduate assistants conduct hour-long individual tutorial sessions and workshops.

Topics include:

  • Study and reading practices
  • Memory and learning improvement
  • Development of note-taking skills
  • Time management
  • Effective test-taking
  • University writing
  • Critical thinking
  • Math skills development

Individualized test analyses and study-skills analyses are available and are part of individualized tutorial instruction. Computer-assisted instruction and instructional videos are also available for student use.

Program Eligibility:

This service is provided free to NAU students at both the North and South Learning Assistance Centers.
