The primary genome database of Dendrome is called TreeGenes. TreeGenes is an ACeDB style database. It includes genetic map, DNA sequence, germplasm, and other related information for a large number of forest tree species.

  • Flora of North America - Searchable database that allows you to look up detailed information on both hardwood and conifer species.

Hardwoods

  • About Hardwoods - Guide to the most common hardwoods. Provides brief description and name.

  • Hardwood Trees - Lists 124 species by common name, order, family and scientific name.

Forest Types

  • Forest Cover Types - Need to link to Forest Cover Types located on right side of the screen. Produced by USGS and US Forest Service Nationalatlas.gov. This data set portrays 25 classes of forest cover types for the United States.

  • Forest types - Lists 8 types throughout the United States.  Produced by the Forest Service and The Bugwood Network.

  • Forestry Resources of the United States - This is a 2002 report that provides information on forestry types and eco-climatic zones as well as other information.  Please note that it is a pdf file.
