The Internet for
Graduate Students
Search
Hints
- Learn as you go
- Use more than one search engine
- Vary your approach using new keywords that you
learn
- Don't bog down in any strategy that doesn't work
- Read the "help" tips for each search engine
to see how they best work.
- Test the main concepts or keywords in your topic by
looking them up in the appropriate search engine or by using them as search
terms in the Library Catalog and
in research
databases.
- If you are finding too much information and too many
sources, narrow your topic
by using the Boolean operator "and"
- Finding too little information may indicate that you need
to broaden your topic by using the Boolean operator "or".
