Welcome

Here you will find information on the past, present, and future activities of the Seminar, along with related information on the subject of Manichaean Studies.

The MANICHAEAN STUDIES SEMINAR, like other SBL seminars, is a by-invitation-only forum for academic research. The results of our work are published generally every few years in the Nag Hammadi and Manichaean Studies series of Brill Publications (Leiden, The Netherlands). The database on this site is restricted to members of the Seminar.

The Seminar meets every year at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature. Our current project is an intensive investigation of the Acta Archelai as a source. This project will be the subject of special sessions in 2002 in Toronto and 2003 in Atlanta. Papers on this subject are posted in the restricted database at least one month prior to the annual meeting, so that the meeting may concentrate on discussion and progress of research.

We also continue the tradition of inviting paper proposals on any subject related to Manichaean Studies to be delivered at the annual meeting.
