Communicator Awards, 2010
Northern Arizona University’s Marketing department was honored with two 2010 Communicator Awards, presented on behalf of the International Academy of Visual Arts. The department received the Gold Award of Excellence for its work on the 2009 Undergraduate Admissions Search Piece. The department also received the Silver Award of Distinction for its work on School of Forestry: Celebrating a Half-Century of Teaching, Research, and Innovation, a book created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the university’s School of Forestry.
The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. Founded by communication professionals over a decade ago, it is an annual competition honoring the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations, and identity work for print, video, interactive, and audio. The 2010 Communicator Awards featured a pool of more than 7,000 entries from advertising agencies, interactive agencies, production firms, in-house creative professionals, graphic designers, design firms, and public relations firms.

Graphic Design USA, 2008
Graphic Design USA is a monthly news and information magazine for and about the professional design community. For four decades, GDUSA has sponsored national design competitions, the biggest of which is the American Graphic Design Awards. The awards process is open to advertising agencies, graphic design firms, corporations, insitutions, and publishers.
The 2008 awards process saw more than 10,000 entries. Fifteen percent are recognized with Awards Certificates of Excellence.
Northern Arizona University won eight awards in various categories including logos, trademarks, and symbols, books, brochures, and direct mail/direct response. The awards are outlined in this PDF.
National Orientation Directors Association, 2008
National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) was chartered in 1976 and continues the tradition of orientation, retention, and transition professionals who have met annually for over 40 years.
NAU won a design award from NODA for the Outstanding Orientation Handbook (3 or more colors) category in the 2008 NODA Pubs Media Showcase Awards. The handbook will be one of only two awards displayed during NODA's annual conference this fall.
