Family Weekend

Family Weekend starts Friday
The entire campus is awaiting your arrival! This weekend marks NAU's annual Family Weekend, and we can't wait to see you. A complete listing of events is online, including the Parents’ Association Reception, football and volleyball games, Casino Nite and Auction, and more.

Calling Campaign
The Parents’ Association is conducting a calling campaign on Monday, October 6 to raise scholarship funds. Please expect calls from our very dedicated student employees on Monday evening.  Thank you!

Check in with your student
Now is the time when approaching mid-term exams, homesickness, roommate considerations, and other challenges can occur. Talk with your student in the coming weeks to help alleviate her or his concerns.

Flagstaff Festival of Science
The festival continues through this Sunday, with all events free and open to the public.

Annual ski swap
With winter around the corner, it's time for the 42nd annual Ski, Snowboard, and Winter Clothing Swap and Sale this weekend in Flagstaff.

Little Shop of Horrors
Nerdy floral assistant, Seymour Krelboyne, becomes an overnight sensation thanks to his carnivorous plant. Produced by Theatrikos Theatre Co., this play continues through October 26.

Prelude to a Season Concert
This concert features the NAU symphony and chamber orchestras, wind symphony, and Shrine of the Ages Choir. This event is scheduled for October 5 at 3 p.m.

Getting the dirt on soil research
Researchers and students at NAU are using DNA techniques to analyze soil and its effects on the environment, and the National Science Foundation is providing funding for the project.

University astronomers only had to look in their own front yard to fund a new 20-inch telescope for the campus Atmospheric Research Observatory.

NAU’s iconic Lumberjack statue gets a lift from a crane operator as he is placed at his new home at the tip of the new dining expansion adjacent to the Fieldhouse.

Student Health Tip

Campus Market and Oasis
Campus Dining has opened a new store, the Campus Market and Oasis in the University Union, featuring specialty packaged foods including gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan, organic, and kosher items. They carry Kinnikinnick and Amy’s products as well as many other brands. 

Students can also refill their water bottles for free with fresh, reverse-osmosis filtered water at the new Campus Market and Oasis.

Athletics News

Family Weekend and more...
The football team returns home to play Sacramento State for the annual Family Weekend game Saturday at 3:05 p.m. The volleyball team plays host to two Big Sky Conference games and the cross country and women’s golf teams continue regular season action on the road.

Student-Athlete Spotlight: Andrew Reiff
Freshman Andrew Reiff collected six combined wins this past weekend at the Arizona Fall Classic, the second tournament this fall for men’s tennis. 

At the Arizona Fall Classic, held on the University of Arizona campus, Reiff paired with fellow freshman Rob Pezzutto posting a perfect 3-0 record and earning the first-ever AFC doubles title.
