The Academy Orchestra
The NAU Academy Orchestra offers a full orchestra experience, including strings, winds, brass, and percussion. Orchestra membership is by audition, and is limited to musicians grades 8-12.
The Academy Orchestra holds a Concerto Competition each Spring, open only to its members. The winner of this competition is awarded the opportunity to perform their piece with symphony Orchestra.
Orchestra members will also receive instruction from NAU School of Music Faculty in the form of Masterclasses and Sectional rehearsals during the regularly scheduled rehearsal times.
Fall 2009 rehearsals begin on Sunday, September 13, 5-7pm, in Room 146 of the NAU Performing and Fine Arts Building.
Auditions for the 2009-10 Academy Orchestra will be held on August 23 and August 30 (both Sundays) from 4-9pm. Musicians should prepare two contrasting pieces of music. Sightreading also will be a part of the audition.
