Education and Public Outreach

NNAD-NAU Staff take an active role in engaging in public archaeology and in presenting Navajo perspectives on archaeological ethics and practice. Staff members are also involved in experimental archaeology, Tim Wilcox founded the Southwest Kiln Conference and NNAD-NAU Staff continue experimental ceramic reproductions.  Jason Nez shown below assisting in experimental pottery firing (with Roger Dorr) at V Bar V Ranch March 2009 (lower left), Tsegi Orange Ware bowl reproduction (lower right).

Public Outreach includes need-based archaeological services to the elderly, public education on the Navajo Nation about cultural resource management and protection
