The Northern Arizona University Police Department is a participating member of the Northern Arizona Street Crimes Task Force also known as METRO. The METRO Unit is a multi-agency task force consisting of the Northern Arizona University Police Department, Flagstaff Police Department, Coconino County Sheriff's Department, Williams Police Department, and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. The METRO Unit receives grant funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance Formula Grant Program to combat illegal drug/narcotics activities in our community.
The METRO Unit conducts overt and covert investigations to address problems ranging from street sales to major trafficking syndicates. The METRO Unit works closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Customs, and the Coconino County Attorney's Office. The METRO Unit is very responsive to citizen's reports of illegal drug/narcotics activities because it understands that this type of activity can be seriously detrimental to the overall safety and health of our neighborhoods.
