PortalMail Compose Bug

This describes how to work around a Microsoft Internet Explorer bug that causes a "Page Not Found" error in the MyNAU PortalMail channel's "Compose" function.

There is a bug in Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6.x and earlier that can cause a "Page Not Found" error to occur when using the "Compose" function of PortalMail. The “Page not found” error only occurs when the user waits 20 to 60 seconds between bringing up the PortalMail “Compose” page and clicking one of the submit buttons on the page.
 

The workaround for this problem is:

  1. Go to the IE "Tools" menu at the top of the window.
  2. Select "Internet Options…".
  3. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Under the "Browsing" category, find the check box labeled "Show friendly HTTP error messages".
  5. Make sure the box is NOT checked.
  6. Click the "OK" button.
