When you first access MyNAU at http://my.nau.edu, you'll see a top banner area that includes the A-Z Index and a search box. Below the top banner area is the main part of the page, with a few boxes of information. These boxes are called "channels". This first page is called the "guest page" because anybody in the world can get to it (it even says "Welcome Guest" in the banner area).

There are a few things you can do right here on the guest page. But the best part of MyNAU is "inside," after you log in. (Before logging in, please have javascript and cookies enabled for your browser.)
| Step 1: The upper-left-hand channel on the guest page is the "MyNAU Log In" channel. Click the "Log In Here" button in this channel (shown at right): |
|
| Step 2: This will take you to the NAU Central Authentication Service (CAS) page. On the CAS page, type in your registered user ID and password, then click the Login button. For most people this will be their jan or dana e-mail user ID and password. (Those who have requested to have their IDs unsynchronized should type in their LDAP user ID and password.) |
|
After logging in, you'll see that the welcome message now has your name in it, along with the A-Z Index and search box. Below these are the current date and a set of navigation links. This entire "top banner" area will always display at the top of MyNAU, no matter which tab you have selected.

The navigation options are Home, Site Map, Preferences, Help and Log Out.
Below the top banner area you'll see a strip of tab names and the contents (channels) of one of the tabs. These are discussed in more detail in the lesson Moving Around.
