Strategic Planning
To the Northern Arizona University Community,
Effective strategic planning requires strong organizational support at every level of the institution. The Strategic Planning Council led some 500 members of the university community—faculty, staff, students, alumni—and external partners in preparing our plan, Passport to Global Learning, Discovery, and Engagement.
Reflected in the plan are topics the university community embraces: learning, access, accountability, affordability, collaboration, environmental sustainability, organizational responsibility, respect, civility, and internationalization. Yet the salient theme is a call for active citizenship in local, regional, state, and world communities. As a dynamic cooperative of talented and enthusiastic visionaries, we are an agent of social change.

We will shape the future with curricular innovations, cross-disciplinary studies, educational accessibility, environmental responsibility, collaborative stewardship of place, and global engagement. Our plan—together with divisional strategic and action plans and performance measures—provides direction for symbiotic learning and enterprise.
Your ideas, support, and criticism are the core strength of our intensive planning process.
The goals, strategies, and initiatives included in this plan are the product of diverse ideas that reflect a united commitment to fulfill our mission.
