Radioactive Materials

POLICY:
REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF ACTIVITIES INVOLVING RADIOISOTOPES
The Radiation Safety Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving all teaching and research activities involving the use of radioisotopes.

PURCHASE OF RADIOISOTOPES
All requisitions for the purchase of licensed radioactive material will be initiated and placed by the Office of Regulatory Compliance (ORC).  

In order to comply with Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency regulations, orders will be held at the carriers’ distribution center for pick-up or shipped directly to ORC for processing. 

Once the material has been processed, the licensed user will be contacted by ORC to arrange for delivery.

Ordering Procedure:

1. E-mail the following information to d-ehs@jan.ucc.nau.edu
   1. Active Radioactive Protocol Number
   2. Vender Name
   3. Part number and item description
   4. Area/Organization Number
2. The Radiation Safety Officer will place the order for the isotope using an ORC purchase order, and will back charge the fee to the originating department.
