![]() Cowden Learning Community --the 2000-2001 AURH hall of the year-- is a coed hall located in the heart of central campus. The hall was built in 1964 and houses 416 students. Cowden houses participants in the New Century Honors program, the Three Year Baccalaureate Degree program, the Education House and Eco House Learning Communities, and the Freshman Connections Program. Complimenting the academic focus, Cowden Learning Community features an in-hall classroom, computer lab, and is home of the honors and three-year degree program offices. It also provides a 24-hour quiet and substance free environment (hall wide). All rooms in Cowden are wired for Ethernet capabilities. Hall staff and residents are very active in planning and implementing educational and social programs. Programs target areas of personal growth, academic success and community development. The Hall Council provides residents an opportunity to develop and increase leadership skills while providing service to the University and Flagstaff communities. Cowden has been recognized as the AURH Hall for Fall 2001, Hall for Spring 2001, Hall for Fall 1999, Hall for Spring 1997 and Hall for Spring 1996.
