We offer a range of degree programs in the study of politics. Undergraduates can choose from a traditional political science degree, a B.S. in American Political Studies, or a B.A. in International Affairs. Our graduate programs include an M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science, a Masters of Public Administration, and a graduate certificate in Public Management.
A degree in political science is an appropriate background for students interested in the law, journalism, teaching at any level, business, non-governmental organizations, and governmental work from the local to the global. Our graduates have gone on to a range of careers, from local community organizing, to the law, to work with government agencies.
We offer courses in the traditional fields of political science, such as US government, international relations and comparative politics, public policy, and political theory. Our focus is both domestic and international, and we strive to explore both the promise of and the obstacles to democratic governance. Our particular strengths are in environmental politics, political development, and questions of difference and diversity in the political realm.
