Political Science Graduate Programs

The Northern Arizona University Political Science Department has 19 faculty members, all very active in the profession. The departmental curriculum pivots around traditional subject areas: American Politics, Public Administration, Public Policy, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory. Masters and doctoral students also formulate specialized programs that enable students to pursue personal interests. The department has particular strengths in environmental politics, political development, and diversity politics, and many students pursue in-depth study in these areas. In addition, cognate fields drawing from a wide variety of disciplines across the university are available.

Political science graduate students at Northern Arizona University share a love of learning. The students get to know one another in core classes, work together in the Graduate Association of Political Science (GAPS), form study groups and socialize regularly with each other. They enjoy small graduate seminars and the personalized education they receive. It is not unusual for faculty to draw graduate students into their research projects and to get to know each other outside of the classroom environment.

One of the best kept secrets of our graduate program is the location. NAU's main campus is located in Flagstaff at 7,000 feet. We have a four-season environment, 300 days of sunshine a year, and the best mountain biking and hiking in the state of Arizona.

We encourage you to browse our Graduate Program webpages for more information on what we have to offer, application procedures, etc. If you have questions about the political science graduate program at NAU, don't hesitate to contact us:
