Study Abroad
Spending a semester or year abroad is a powerful learning experience. You will gain maturity, new coping skills, and a wider, more informed viewpoint. These experiences will impact your life AND appeal to potential employers. Students find the experience particularly invaluable for career preparation and foreign language comprehension. For more information visit the Center for International Education website http://international.nau.edu.
Internships
Internships are an outstanding form of “education by experience." They are gold mines for building job and life skills, exploring possible career directions, and adding to your network of contacts. They are highly desirable entries on your resume, and they occur in so many different settings that you will likely find one to match your special interests. Our students have learned in all these settings and more: state legislature, non-profit organizations, private law practices, environmental groups, political campaigns at national, state, and local levels, lobbying organizations, international government and organizations. All formalized intern experiences are eligible to earn academic credit. In addition, some internships include a stipend, so you may be paid to learn!
