| This major offers solid groundwork in concepts and practices of government and politics at the national and international levels. It instructs students in the essential life and career skills of critical analysis, focused research, oral and written communication, and appreciation of diverse outlooks. It provides significant preparation for pursuing jobs in fields such as law, journalism, business, teaching, and employment in a vast array of government agencies, political parties, and interest groups at local, state, national and international levels. |
| For both the B.S. and the B.A., 39 hours of coursework are required, made up of a core of foundation courses in the major sub disciplines of Political Science (American, Comparative/International, Public Administration/Policy, and Political Thought), and a research methods course. Additional requirements include a junior writing class, senior capstone, and three other POS courses selected from the undergraduate curriculum. It DOES require a minor. (For a B.A. degree, a minimum of 2 years of a foreign language is also required.) |
