SHEL 4 Commemorative Volume

First call for submission to a Volume to commemorate SHEL-4

Following up on the discussion at SHEL-4 in Flagstaff, we are now inviting submissions of papers for potential inclusion in the SHEL-4 volume.

As in the previous three volumes, we will seek to focus the papers around specific research issues. Although at this early stage we cannot predict what the focus will be, we have a very preliminary idea that we want to share with you: if at all possible, we would like to organize the contributions in two broad sections: evidential bases and heuristic methods. All papers will be sent out for anonymous peer-reviews.

As you revise your conference paper for submission, you might consider some of the following questions as useful guides:

We would appreciate receiving your papers -- or a note from you saying that you do or do not wish to publish with us – no later than December 31, 2005.

All submissions should be sent as attachments to both editors. The exact format is not important at this point; all we ask, for this version, is that you conform to the following general guidelines:

1. The submission should not be significantly longer than 7,000 words. Shorter papers will be appreciated.

2. Each submission should be accompanied by a 200-300 word abstract.

3.  Times, or Times Roman, 12 point font, throughout including notes and references.

4. Line spacing 1.5.

5. Footnotes together at the end of the paper, numbered sequentially.

6. Pagination centered at bottom of page.

7. We suggest that for now, references, citations, translations and such technical matter follow the Mouton style.

8. Diagrams, for now, should be in the text, but on separate sheets; eventually they will have to move to separate sheets at the end.

Please do not allow length alone to deter you from submitting your paper. If your paper very significantly exceeds the 20-page limit, let us know and we may be able to tell you whether there is hope of including it even before we send the papers out for peer reviews.
