THE
BASICS
ASSOCIATED WITH REGISTRATION
Existing student organizations
need to re-register annually
with Student Life. During the
registration process we request an
updated registration application
form, a membership roster, and updated
constitution/by-laws. Keep in
mind that members must have a 2.00 grade
point average and officers must have a
minimum 2.25 grade point average.
When your re-registration
materials are complete, the Student Life will review, sign, and file
them in our office and update the
information about your organization on our website. You do not have
to go before ASNAU for approval during
the re-registration process, provided
you re-register annually. Please notify our
office as soon as possible of any officer
or advisor changes. Download the
Change
of Officer/Advisor Form.
___________________
New student
organizations must be approved by ASNAU, your student government. Student
Life collects the materials for new organizations and provides this information
to ASNAU. The ASNAU organization liaison will contact you and let you know when
the Senate vote will take place. It is required that an organization
representative attend this particular meeting. Once ASNAU votes to approve
your
organization, it is then forwarded
to Student Life for final
approval. When Student
Life approves the application, then and
only then, does the organization become
a registered student organization at Northern
Arizona University.
Your materials will be signed and filed
in the Student Life office. Initially,
your organization must have 12 or more student
members with a common purpose. Members
must have a minimum
Northern Arizona University cumulative grade point average of
2.00. Officers
can be included in the membership list, however,
they must have a minimum Northern
Arizona University cumulative
GPA of 2.25. You will need to submit
a copy of your constitution and by-laws. Click here for a Sample
Constitution to aid you in writing
drafting your constitution should you
need help. Check our
list of currently registered clubs and
organizations to assure that there
is not an organization already out there
with the same purpose/mission..
Student Life publishes a
Student Organization Guidebook (under
construction) which contains
policies and procedures that may be helpful
to all organizations and to those considering
starting a new organization. The
Guidebook can be obtained by visiting
the Office of Student Life (available
soon).
If you fail to
re-register in a timely manner, your organization
may not be included in the first edition
of the Student Organization
Directory or other
publications we provide to students and
guests.
