PURPOSE:
To provide annual student input
and guidance regarding the use of revenue
increases collected from Northern Arizona
University’s student activity fee.
The activity fee is defined as
the fee approved by the Arizona Board of Regents
(ABOR) which is collected to support activities
such as campus recreation, intramurals, campus
union operations including speakers,
entertainers, concerts and special events, and
other activities which directly benefit and
involve students. The activity fee shall not be
used for educational costs directly related to
instruction and instructional support services.
The purpose of the activity fee
is to support university activities that enliven
and enrich the campus. Such activities include
concerts, speakers, Family Weekend, Homecoming,
recreation, and entertainers.
PROCEDURE:
1. Following
Arizona Board of Regents approval of an activity
fee, a student activity fee advisory committee
was established by
the university president. Student appointments
are based upon an annual application and selection
process.
2. Accordingly,
the
"Student Activity Fee Advisory Committee" will
include one student organization
representative selected from each of the
following student organizational categories:
Academic and Service Honorary
Advocacy and Cultural
ASNAU
Club Sports
Greek Organizations
Recreation
Religious and Special Interest
Residence Halls
At Large (not a representative of
any student organization)
3. The university
president will appoint administrative, faculty,
and staff representatives and ex-officio members
to the committee as appropriate.
4. The
"Student
Activity Fee Advisory Committee" will review
needs assessments, student surveys and budgets
to provide input, advice and recommendations
regarding the use of projected revenue increases
collected from the student activity fee for the
following academic year.
5. The committee will
forward a summary of its discussion and
recommendations for use of the additional fee
revenues for the following academic year to the
president of the university prior to the
completion of the current academic year.
6. The recommendations
which are accepted by the president will be
funded through the distribution of the fee
revenues to those units responsible for
overseeing implementation of fee-supported
activities for the academic year in which they
are collected.

throughout the academic year.
