on the Options button from the Remote Desktop Connection window.
See the list below for recommended settings.
After clicking the Options button you will see this screen:

Mac: To access the Advanced Options on a Macintosh computer, BEFORE
you log into the Virtual Lab, click on the RDC menu and then choos preferences.
You will see a menu like the one below, click on each of the icons across the top
to access all of the options. You must exit the Remote Desktop Client and re-start
it for these settings to take effect. See the list below for recommended
settings.

The following are available settings and recommendations for
each tab:
- General/Login
- Allows you to save all options for this connection to Virtual Lab
- Display
- Allows you to set the size of the Remote Desktop Client window
- Note: color depth is administratively capped at 15 bit (High Color)
- Local Resources
- Sound
- Depending on your connection speed, sound may not be an option. You can turn it
off here
- Keyboard
- Allows Windows key combination to be available through the remote connection
- Local Devices and Resources/Drives and Printers
- If there are any printers that are mapped or attached to the personal computer before
connecting to Virtual Lab, this option will allow you to print to those printers
while in the remote session. It isn't known what printers are incompatible with
Virtual Lab's setup, so if printing problems are experienced with any personal,
attached printers, please call the Academic Computing Help desk (928-523-9294 -or-
1-888-520-7215) with the specifics of the problem and the make and model of the
printer.
- It is recommended that the Clipboard box is checked. This will help facilitate copying
and pasting text from the local session to the remote session.
- To facilitate moving documents, large datasets, and other data from the local computer
directly to the Z drive, individual hard disks, network mapped drives, CD/DVDROM
drives, and USB flash drives can be mapped to the remote session.
- Note that the clipboard, drives, and printers will only be mapped to the remote
session if they are selected before the connection is made.
- To map the clipboard, drives, and printers after a connection has been established,
disconnect the session by closing the client (do not log out), open the client again
and select the appropriate clipboard, drive, and printer options and log back in
to Virtual Lab.
