Minor in
Women's Studies
A minor in Women's Studies complements any other course of study.
Requirements
Our minor includes 21 course-hours from the following Core and Area requirements.
Core Requirements
WGS 200 ~ Introduction to Women's Studies: | 3 hours |
WGS 300w* ~ Feminist Theories: | 3 hours |
WGS 491c ~ New Directions in Women's Studies: Research, Theory, and Scholarship: | 3 hours |
* Fulfills NAU's junior-level writing requirement.
Area Requirements
Choose 12 hours of courses from the following three groups.
Group One
WGS 199 ~ Modular Learning Experience | 6 hours |
Group TwoANT 404 ~ Women in Contemporary Cultures | 3 hours |
Group ThreeENG 261 ~ Introduction to Women Writers | 3 hours |
Tips
Hour Requirements
Please note that while NAU requires 18 hours for a minor, WST requires 21 hours. At least 30 hours of the total 120 hours of coursework must be upper-division courses (i.e. those with course numbers higher than 300).

Be sure to declare your Women's Studies minor before completing 12 hours of the requirements.
General Electives
Use the general elective requirements to pursue specific interests and goals. An advisor can help select appropriate courses. Prerequisites or transfer credits may be credited as electives if they aren't used to meet major, minor or liberal studies requirements.
